Web developer

Derwent Howard is Australia’s fastest growing publisher. Specializing in games and consumer electronics technology, we publish a large portfolio of specialized titles, including the Official PlayStation magazine, the Australian 360 magazine, Web Designer magazine and F1 Racing, to name a few.

Online properties include www.gameplayer.com.au and www.gadgetzone.com.au. Derwent Howard has an active bespoke division and publishes many specialized magazines each year.

We are growing our online publishing activities and are expanding our web development team to build this growth.

The role encompasses:

• Building new sites from the ground up for new and existing magazines and online IPs
• Adding features and functions to existing sites
• Newsletter and digital media authoring, including disc interfaces and e-zines

The right candidate will have:

• Experience developing consumer content websites
• A strong understanding of Web 2.0 design principles
• A religious belief in the importance of deadlines
• Attention to detail and adherence to sound UAT procedures

The role would be well suited to a graduate seeking to gain experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and exciting publishing environment. Or an experienced developer wishing to positively influence a growing team.

The successful applicant will possess web development experience and technical proficiency in these following areas:

Programming

Essential:

XHTML
CSS
ASP.NET
XML
XSLT
Javascript
SQL
VB.NET
C#.NET

Desirable:

Kentico CMS for ASP.NET
XML
XSLT
Flash

Any knowledge of other .NET frameworks will be an advantage.

A passion and affinity for video games and gadgets is a massive plus!

Software

Dreamweaver or Frontpage
Visual Web Development Studio
SQL Server 2005 (or any related relational database management system).

The role is full time, based in our Bondi Junction office.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
