Knitters' getaway

Need a break? Take a mid-week trip with the girls to Nundle Woollen Mill Knitters' Country Experience. Held in the country village of Nundle in the New England North West of NSW, the getaway is $400 per person and includes Wed-Fri accommodation at stylish Jenkins Street Guest House, gourmet food, expert knitting tuition and a tour of the seven stages of wool processing on site and the factory shop. Spin In
April 4, Abbotsford Convent, St Heliers Street , Abbotsford VIC

The Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria will host a Spin In at the picturesque grounds of Abbostford Convent. The event will launch a book on the 50-year history of the guild, and everyone who attends will receive a showbag. Check out the stalls and the Sea of Scarves exhibit. Open from 10am-4pm, admission is $8 and includes morning and afternoon tea.

Royal Easter Show

Warped and Twisted exhibition and sale

Out of hand exhibition
June 1-3, Uniting Church Hall, Flora St Sutherland NSW

Sutherland Shire Spinners and Weavers are holding an exhibition called Out of Hand. Come and see the handmade works on display and marvel at the results of the President's challenge which this year asked members to create a garment from 200g of fibre, hand spun by an unknown member. There will also be items on sale as well as Virginia Farm Products.

The event runs from 11am to 5pm on Thursday June 1, 9am to 5pm on Friday June 2 and 9am to 4pm on Saturday June 3.

Blurring the Boundaries: Fashion Design Innovation in Contemporary Knitting
24 June –13 August, Fairfierld City Museum and Gallery, Sydney.

A showcase of an exciting new generation of national and international artists and designers who explore the ancient art of knitting and whose work blur the boundaries between art, fashion, craft, design and technology. This is a unique landmark exhibition designed to question the eternal debate as to what constitutes the art of dress.

The Alice Springs Beanie Festival

The Australian Sheep & Wool Show
July 21-23, Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Holmes Road Bendigo VIC

Everything to do with wool and fleece, from the sheep (and alpacas and goats) to the hand-spun yarn. The event also includes the Woolcraft competition, which is now calling for entries in a wide range of wool-related crafts from handspinning and knitting to wool embroidery and wearable art.
